Working to a briefRapid prototype development
During our Studio workshops I was required to create several prototypes that met, often experimental, brief requirements. Each project was usually developed over the course of 3-6 weeks in teams comprised of designers and programmers. Most projects required collaboration with animation, audio and graphic design students. Titan Tussle is a 2v2 game where player's have to knock the opposing team off the edge of the map. The brief for this project required that one member of each team had delayed actions while the other was instant. This led us to an interesting dynamic with a slow strong giant that could charge opponents out of the ring and a smaller titan that could melee stun opponents and occasionally use power-ups. The core challenge for this project was ensuring that the dynamic between each team member was enjoyable and that each member had a similar level of engagement during a play session. 'Balance' was a concept that we quickly learned was subjective to the design and didn't need to be the same throughout a match which led to the addition of the energy blast pickup for the small titans. |
